On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, David Hefflebower, an owner of Harbortown Marina-Canaveral, passed away peacefully. Born in Michigan in 1936, he and his wife Barbara have been married 62 years.
David became active in the marina business starting in 1986 and in 1988, when he opened Harbortown Marina at Fort Pierce, FL. Then in 1995, David began working on the expansion of Abbey Marina here on Merritt Island, FL, which became what we know as today’s Harbortown Marina-Canaveral. The majority of that work took place between 1996-1998. Several years ago, he passed on the torch to his daughter, Jan Chnupa, appointing her as the CEO of Harbortown Marina-Canaveral. The employees of the marina express their deepest condolences and prayers to Jan, her family and especially Barbara Hefflebower.
A memorial service will be on Saturday February 18th at 10:30 am at First Church of God, 1105 58th Avenue, Vero Beach, Florida 32966.
