Ideas and Recipes for a Great Family Boat Day
Spending a day out on the water is a great way to connect with your family. But it can also turn sour quickly if there isn’t food to munch on after you’ve worked up an appetite. Since cooking options are often limited on board, it can be difficult to find recipes that are tasty and fulfilling. However, we’ve pulled together some of our favorite recipes that your whole family is sure to enjoy.
Sandwich wraps
These are a crowd-pleaser, even for the pickiest eaters in your family. Ditch the bread and grab your favorite tortilla wrap. You can stuff them with veggies, turkey, or even fish — the possibilities are endless. For optimal family-fun, have a tortilla-rolling contest to see who can make their wrap the fastest. Try these Turkey Wraps or this BLT Sandwich Wrap!
Veggie Skewers with Dip
Sure, it can be difficult to get kids to eat their veggies, but if you make it a little fun, it’s hard to resist. The night before you set sail, grab some skewers and your favorite vegetables. Stack your skewers full of vegetables. Not only will this create some fun for the kids, but it also will take up less space in your cooler. Be sure to pack your favorite dip!
Walking Tacos
This recipe can get messy, but the kids love it. Before heading out, cook some beef, chicken, or whichever protein you prefer. When that’s done, chop up some veggies and any other taco toppings you may want. Put the meat and veggies in a cooler and grab a snack bag size of your favorite chips. We recommend Doritos. When you’re ready to chow down, simply cut open the chip bag and fill it with your favorite toppings!
Peanut Butter Bars
You can’t forget dessert! Everyone needs a sweet treat to end their day off right. Peanut bars are the perfect treat to be prepared right before launch. All you need is butter, graham crackers, powdered sugar, peanut butter and chocolate chips to pull off this sweet and salty combo.
Fisher’s Gimlet
We can’t leave the parents out. When you need to kick back and relax at the end of the day, try out this refreshing cocktail recipe. The best part? Most of the ingredients can be found in the previous recipes! Combine one sugar cube, one lime wedge, three cucumber wheels, and three basil leaves in your cocktail shaker. Shake until the cucumbers are nearly a purée. Add one ounce of gin and ice. Shake well and enjoy responsibly!
