Boaters from all over the country will soon be vacationing near sunny Cape Canaveral, Merritt Island, and Cocoa Beach, where Harbortown Marina members and residents enjoy the sun all year long! Since we know how excited boaters can get during this time of year, we wanted to share some of the Top Boating Spots to Visit This Spring near Cape Canaveral!
Indian River Lagoon
The Indian River Lagoon, surprisingly, is not a river. Instead, it is an estuarine lagoon formed over 7000 years ago. The Indian River Lagoon is part of a combination of three bodies of water, consisting of the Indian River Lagoon, the Banana River, and Mosquito Lagoon. Together, these waterways span over 156 miles along Florida’s east coast!
When visiting the Indian River Lagoon, visitors can expect to see a wide variety of wildlife including dolphins and manatees! The lagoon itself holds over 700 different species of fish and is considered one of the top fisheries in the country! This alone makes the Indian River Lagoon one of the top boating spots on our list.
Our members and area residents enjoy direct access to these prime boating spots. For a full list of ways to access the Indian River Lagoon by boat, Click Here.
Freddie Patrick Park
Freddie Patrick Park is just minutes from the open ocean and offers eight slips, two pavilions, fish-cleaning tables, and restrooms! With close access to the open beach, Freddie Patrick Park is definitely a top boating spot near Cape Canaveral.
